It’s 2022. It’s time to start creating video content. Why? It’s a smart business move. The numbers speak for themselves.
- 86% of businesses use video marketing.
- Viewers retain 95% of a video message; only 10% from text.
- 84% of people bought a product or service because of a brand video.
Pretty impressive. That said, here are six video trends to consider for 2022.
1-Silence is Golden
At least that’s what a lot of consumers think. It’s estimated that 85% of short videos on Facebook are watched without sound.
As a video professional, I’m obligated to say, that sound does matter. But hey, it doesn’t always need to be front and center. Just ensure your video is visually appealing. If your videos need or already have sound, no worries. You can easily add closed captions so folks can watch in silence and stay engaged. Psst: captioning your videos has an added bonus. It helps with search engine ranking and visibility.
2-Real People/Real Stories
User-Generated Content (UGC) will continue to grow in 2022. Can you say TikTok?
Marketing Insider Group stated, consumers overwhelming trust user-generated content. In fact, 85% think UGC is more trustworthy and nearly 70% find it more authentic.
Not only does user-generated content provide more value when it comes to authenticity, it positively impacts engagement. Videos created by and featuring real people get 10x more views on YouTube than content created by brands.
3-Go Live!
Live video skyrocketed in 2020 as the pandemic put a stop to in-person events. It remains an essential avenue for connecting with consumers and potential customers.
Live video is great for making announcements, debuting new products or services and broadcasting conferences and events. Viewers can watch live videos on your website or on social media platforms.
Users say they feel more connected, excited, informed and involved watching live video. Get this, according to Marketing Insider Group, Facebook users watch live videos for 3x longer than pre-recorded videos. Add to that, live content generates 6x more interactions.
4-Increase Your Business Visibility
Videos on your website can optimize your search engine optimization results.
Forrester recently found that videos are 53 times more likely to generate first-page rankings than traditional SEO techniques. BrightEdge reports that Google now puts video snippets next to 26% of search results, and users are more likely to click them.
5-Get Vlogging
Move over traditional blogs, the video blog is a 2022 trend. Marketing Insider Group said vlogs are the go-to way to connect with consumers, develop your brand personality and engage your audiences.
Something else to think about; the majority of vlogs are published by individuals. What if your business adopted this video trend? How would that make a difference for your brand?
6- Authenticity Counts
Expect to see videos with a more authentic approach. HubSpot found that today’s consumers care more about the who and why of your brand as opposed to what you do.
People like the human aspect when watching videos. This approach scores high when engaging, educating and inspiring them to action. For your next video, think about the content that is relevant to your viewers. Make them care. Talk about your people and your purpose.
